HAMDEN, Conn. – Jared Smith scored in the 90^th minute of action to tie the game, as Quinnipiac men's soccer played to a 1-1 draw vs. Iona on Saturday afternoon at the QU Soccer Stadium in Hamden,

Alexander Stjernegaard played a corner kick in to the box toward Smith – who headed one into the back of the net with 43 seconds remaining to help the Bobcats force a tie and pick up a point in the MAAC standings.

SCORING SUMMARY
First Half

(37' – Iona 1, Quinnipiac 0): Aly Camara scored to give the Gaels an early 1-0 lead in the first half of action. Sergio Gonzalez Fernandez earned an assist.

Second Half

(90' – Iona 1, Quinnipiac 1): Jared Smith's goal came with just 43 seconds remaining. Alexander Stjernegaard played a beautiful corner chance into the box, and Smith leaped to fire a header into the back of the net to tie the game.

NOTES

The goal is Jared Smith's first of the season – and second score of his career. He also scored once in the 2021 season as a sophomore.
Alexander Stjernegaard's team-high assist total is now up to nine. The first-year midfielder has recorded a point in four straight matches during MAAC play. He has seven assists over the last eight contests.
Total shots finished at 12-6 in favor of the Bobcats. Eight different QU players attempted a shot on goal.
