QU Ties For 2nd, Sakoda Claims First At QU Classic

WALLINGFORD, CT – Quinnipiac women's golf wrapped up play at the Quinnipiac Classic, finishing tied for 2nd out of 11 teams.
QU ended the tournament tied in second place among 11 teams after shooting 934 (+70) after three rounds. Sacred Heart finished in first place after shooting a combined 933 (+69), just one stroke ahead of Quinnipiac and Fairleigh Dickinson (+70).
The Bobcats had three golfers placed within the top-10, as Kaylee Sakoda finished in first place, Leeyen Peralta finished tied for 8th and Emily Luu finished tied for 10th after competing as an individual. Sakoda shot a 71 (-1) in the final round and 215 (-1) in the whole tournament. Peralta shot a 236 (+20) and Luu shot a 237 (+21) total in the three rounds.
Aimee Uchida finished tied for 23rd after shooting a 79 (+7) on the final day. Fuge Zhang tied for 27th place after shooting a combined 245 (+29) after two days. Sandhya Vaikuntam rounded out the Quinnipiac grouping and tied for 46th after shooting a 254 (+38).
Meg Yoshida competed as an individual and finished tied for 23rd place with Uchida. Both Uchida and Yoshida finished the tournament shooting a 243 (+27). Riley Carey and Elena Spangle also competed as individuals and finished in 52nd and 61st place, respectively.
The Bobcats will be back in action on Saturday, Oct.15, when they open play at the Delaware Invitational in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
