Five different Bobcats score in 5-1 win
HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team dominated the Maine Black Bears on Saturday afternoon by a score of 5-1. Five different Bobcats scored in the win, including graduate student netminder Corinne Schroeder. She is the first female ice hockey player in NCAA history to receive credit for a goal in a game.
Schroeder is the first goalie goal in Quinnipiac women's ice hockey history to score, and she now is the second goalie in Quinnipiac ice hockey history (men's and women's programs) to score a goal. Netminder Michael Garteig '16 also received credit for a goal on Dec. 7, 2013 at Union. Schroeder's goal is the first goalie goal since 2018 when netminders Atte Tolvanen (Northern Michigan) and Evan Weninger (Nebraska-Omaha) both scored during the season. There have been just 12 goalie goals recorded in NCAA history, and Schroeder has now etched her name in the record books as the 13th player ever to do so.
