Bobcats Take Home Pair of Honors to Wrap Up Regular Season
HAMDEN, Conn. – Odeen Tufto (Chaska, Minnesota) has been named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week and Keith Petruzzelli (Wilbraham, Massachusetts) has been named the ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday, March 8.
Tufto's player of the week honors are his second straight and third of the season while Petruzzelli's goaltender of the week award is his fourth of the season. Tufto has been named the league's player of the week eight times in his career and Petruzzelli has earned seven goaltender of the week awards.
Tufto tied for the ECAC Hockey lead once again with a goal and three assists for four points. He also led the league with 31 faceoff wins, and led all centers with a .660 faceoff percentage.
With the first goal in Friday night's 4-2 win, Tufto recorded the 126th assist of his career to break the program record of 125 held by Reid Cashman '07. Tufto is now the all-time assists leader in program history with 128 assists. He has also recorded 165 points in his career, four points behind Bryan Leitch '09 and Brian Herbert '03 for the most points in Division I program history.
Tufto has 44 points this season, two points behind Wisconsin's Cole Caufield for the most points in the nation. Tufto leads the nation with 38 assists, 1.41 assists per game, 20 power-play assists, 22 power-play points, 349 faceoff wins and a .631 faceoff percentage.
Petruzzelli led ECAC Hockey with a win and 57 saves on the weekend, moving into a tie for second in the nation with 17 wins. He remains ranked in the top 10 nationally with a 1.78 GAA and a .929 save percentage.
In his career, Petruzzelli has racked up 51 wins, good for fifth in Division I program history. He is also fourth with a 2.15 GAA and .915 save percentage, and fifth with 1,992 saves in his career.
The Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team will face Colgate in the ECAC Hockey Semifinals on Thursday, March 18.
