
13 Different Players Record Point in Balanced Win Against Merrimack

HAMDEN, Conn. — The Quinnipiac men's ice hockey program turned in another standout offensive performance on Saturday afternoon, as the Bobcats took down Merrimack by a 6-3 final in front of a sold out crowd at M&T Bank Arena.
It was another balanced effort by the Bobcats as 13 different players found the scoresheet, with Elliott Groenewold, Tyler Borgula and Antonin Verreault all recording multi-point nights to help in the effort.
Quinnipiac took control in the first 24 minutes, scoring three of the game's first goals and having quick responses to the first two Merrimack tallies.
84 seconds after Merrimack tied the game, Borgula found the net to make it 2-1 in the first. Then in the second, Gabriel Frasca answered 3:12 after Merrimack's Ty Daneault found the net to make it a two-goal lead once again.
Rorke Applebee earned his first start in net, recording 25 saves on 28 shots on his net.

Quinnipiac heads to Maine for a two-game set next weekend at Alfond Arena, taking on the Black Bears Oct. 9 and 10. Both games are set for 7 p.m., puck drops and can be seen live on ESPN+.

STATS AND NOTES
- Frasca's goal was the first of his collegiate career and came against his brother, Jacob, who players for Merrimack.
- Groenewold finished the weekend with a pair of assists in both games, culminating in a four-point weekend. He now has five multi-assist and seven multi-point games to his credit.
- The 16 goals are the second-most in a single weekend since 2000, tying the Dec. 9-10 weekend in 2022-23. They put 17 home between Feb. 6-7 a year ago.
- Marcellus remains the nation's active leader in points, currently sitting as one of two active players with 100-plus points. He has an NCAA-leading 110 points and 76 assists.
