Quinnipiac takes down the Pioneers, 6-0

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team shutout the Sacred Heart Pioneers, 6-0, and earned the team's seventh win of the year. The Bobcats had six different goal scorers in the win with 11 assists. Quinnipiac recorded 58 shots on goal with a season-low seven shots against.

Senior Taylor Girard and first-year Maddy Samoskevich both led the team with three points on three assists. Senior Renee Saltness scored the game-winning goal and first-year Olivia Mobley netted her first career goal.

First-year Catie Boudiette made her third career start in the net, and sophomore Allie Kelley also saw time between the pipes. The Bobcats tallied their fourth shutout of the year and are 4-1 in the last five games.

(00:30, 1st period, EV) – Quinnipiac 1, Sacred Heart 0: Saltness got things started early with a quick goal in front of the net 30 seconds into the game. Girard and junior Lexie Adzija tallied assists on the goal.
(11:31, 1st period, EV) – Quinnipiac 2, Sacred Heart 0: First-year Kendall Cooper scored a beautiful one-timer from the right side to give the Bobcats a 2-0 lead. Girard and Samoskevich added helpers on the play.
(11:15, 2nd period EV) – Quinnipiac 3, Sacred Heart 0: Senior Taylor House scored right above the crease to give the Bobcats a 3-0 lead.
(15:28, 2nd period) – Quinnipiac 4, Sacred Heart 0: Mobley scored her first career goal off a cross-ice pass from sophomore Kate Reilly. Girard added her third assist of the day on the play.
(10:01, 3nd period) – Quinnipiac 5, Sacred Heart 0: Redshirt-sophomore Courtney Vorster scored from the left point off a pass from Samoskevich.
(15:22, 3rd period) – Quinnipiac 6, Sacred Heart 0: First-year Nina Steigauf scored her second goal of the year after some nice handling from senior Grace Markey, who tallied an assist.

NOTES

Six different Bobcats scored in the team's fourth shutout win of the year.
Girard and Samoskevich both tallied three assists. This is Girard's second game this season with three assists, and Samoskevich notched a season-high three points in the win.
Saltness recorded her second game-winning goal of the year and now has 13 points on the season.
Cooper scored her fourth goal of the year and leads the Quinnipiac first years with eight points.
Mobley tallied her first career goal and now has three points on the season.
The Bobcats held the Pioneers to just seven shots on net and added 58 of their own. Seven shots is the lowest number of shots against since the 2015-16 season when the Bobcats allowed just three shots against Brown on Oct. 30, 2015.
Quinnipiac recorded zero penalties and went 0-4 on the power play.
Sacred Heart's Frankie Sanchez made 52 saves in the loss.
