Mikala Morris Paces Bobcats With Double-Double
HAMDEN, Conn. – Senior guard Mackenzie DeWees registered 15 points, seven rebounds and three steals to lead the Quinnipiac women's basketball, but it wasn't enough as the Bobcats fell against No. 4 Indiana, 67-59, in its 2021-22 home-opener on Saturday afternoon inside of the People's United Center.
Junior forward Mikala Morris added 15 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double, while senior Rose Caverly added 11 points.

- The Bobcats used the opening 3:45 of the contest to jump out to a 12-2 lead behind five points from Mikala Morris and three from Amani Free
- The Hoosiers responded by outsourcing the Bobcats 8-4 the rest of the way in the quarter to cut Quinnipiac's lead to 16-10 entering the second.
- The Bobcats opened the second quarter with an 11-4 run behind two three-pointers from Rose Caverly and one from Cur'Tiera Haywood to push the Quinnipiac lead to 27-14 with 5:29 to go before the break
- The Hoosiers responded with four quick points to snap the run, forcing Quinnipiac to call a timeout up nine with 4:38 to go in the half
- Indiana was able to cut the deficit to five out of the timeout, but Quinnipiac responded with a 6-2 run of its own to build the lead to 33-24 with 39 seconds to go before the break
- However, Grace Berger drilled a three from halfcourt at the buzzer to trim Quinnipiac's lead to 33-27 into the break
- The two sides were nearly evenly matched through the first four minutes of the second half, with Quinnipiac outscoring Indiana 8-5 to extend the lead to nine
- The Hoosiers responded with a 6-2 run before a bucket from Morris halted the Indiana run, keeping the Bobcats' lead at five with 3:56 to go in the third
- However, Indiana used the final two minutes of the the period to go on a 9-0 run to take a 47-43 lead into the fourth quarter
- The Hoosiers used the first 3:15 of the fourth to outscore the Bobcats 9-5 to push their lead to eight before back-to-back buckets from Morris and DeWees cut the Quinnipiac deficit to four with 4:52 left in regulation
- The Bobcats were able to cut the deficit to as close as three with three minutes left in the fourth before Indiana closed the game with an 11-6 run to hold on for the 67-59 win over Quinnipiac
- The Bobcats led by as much as 13 in the first half
- Quinnipiac led over No. 4 Indiana for 27:50 in the contest
- Quinnipiac held Indiana to 10 points in the first quarter, its lowest scoring output in a quarter this season
- Morris tallied 13 points and 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season
- DeWees led the Bobcats with 15 points and added seven rebounds and three steals in the loss
- Rose Caverly added 11 points in the loss
- The Bobcats will be back in action on Monday. Nov. 22, when they travel to Washington, D.C. to take on George Washington
