DeWees Tallies 16 Points, 11 Rebounds and Six Steals to Lead Quinnipiac Past CCSU
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – Senior Mackenzie DeWees tallied game-highs of 19 points, 11 rebounds and six steals to lead the Quinnipiac women's basketball team to its first win of the season in a 79-50 victory over Central Connecticut Saturday afternoon inside of Detrick Gymnasium.
Junior forward Mikala Morris added 15 points and nine rebounds, while sophomore guard Halee Smith scored a career-high 10 points off the bench.

- However, the Blue Devils closed the half with a 12-2 run to cut the Quinnipiac lead to 36-32 at the half
- Quinnipiac used the opening 4:40 of the half to go on a 13-4 run, led by six points from Mikala Morris, to stretch its lead to 49-36
- The Bobcats outscored the Blue Devils 24-9 in the third quarter to carry a 60-41 lead into the fourth quarter
- Quinnipiac's lead reached as much as 33 points before coasting to a 79-50 victory
- The 29-point win marked Quinnipiac's largest margin of victory since defeating Hartford 87-50 on Dec. 29, 2019
- DeWees tallied game-highs of 19 points and 11 rebounds for her first double-double of the season
- She also tied her career-high of six steals in the win
- It's the first time a Quinnipiac player had five or more steals in a game since DeWees nabbed six thefts against Iona on Jan. 2, 2020
- Morris recorded 15 points and nine rebounds for the second consecutive game to open the season
