MAAC Announces Women's Soccer Postseason Awards, Four Bobcats Honored

EDISON, N.J. - The Quinnipiac women's soccer team had four student-athletes receive All-MAAC honors, as announced by the league on Monday, Nov. 1. Senior Selena Salas and sophomore Rebecca Cooke were both named to the All-MAAC First Team, and junior Markela Bejleri and sophomore Sofia Lospinoso were tabbed with All-MAAC Second Team honors.
Quinnipiac stands at 13-4 overall this season with a 7-3 MAAC record, which is the best regular season record in the team's Division I era. The team is set to host Siena on Nov. 4 in the MAAC Semifinal game.
The Bobcats saw four different student-athletes named to All-MAAC Teams, which is the most since the team had four players honored in 2017.
Selena Salas - All-MAAC First Team
Salas has earned her fourth All-MAAC recognition of her career, receiving an honor in three out of four seasons played. She was named to the All-MAAC Rookie Team and the All-MAAC Second Team in 2018. Salas was named to the All-MAAC Team in the 2020-21 season. This season, Salas is leading the team with a career-high 29 points through 17 games played (8g, 13a) with four game-winning goals. She notched an assist on the game-winning goal on Oct. 31 against Marist in the MAAC Quarterfinal game. Salas' 29 points rank second in the MAAC behind Niagara's Florence Vaillancourt. Her 13 assists are ranked first in the conference.
Rebecca Cooke - All-MAAC First Team
The MAAC Preseason Player of the Year was named to the All-MAAC First Team, tallying her second All-MAAC postseason honor of her career. Cooke has recorded 26 points this season through 16 games played (12g, 2 a). She is ranked third in the confernece in points and second in goals behind Niagara's Vaillancourt. Cooke has notched three game winning-goals this season.


Markela Bejleri - All-MAAC Second Team
Bejleri was named to the All-MAAC Second Team, recording her first All-MAAC postseason honor of her career. The midfielder has tallied a career-high 14 points on five goals and four assists this season. She scored two goals in the Bobcats' regular season finale against Fairfield. Alongside Salas, Bejleri has been an integral part of the center midfield for the Bobcats.
Sofia Lospinoso - All-MAAC Second Team
Sophomore keeper Sofia Lospinoso was also named to the All-MAAC Second Team after the conclusion of the regular season. This is her first postseason honor of her career. Lospinoso has allowed a MAAC-leading four goals against, recording an impressive .401 goals against average through 11 games played. She is 8-2 on the season with four shutouts. She recorded a season-high four saves against Marist in the Bobcats' 1-0 quarterfinal win.
