Bejleri, Kron Score in Bobcats' 3-0 Win vs Fairfield

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's soccer team captured its 12th overall win of the season in a 3-0 victory over Fairfield in the regular season finale on Wednesday afternoon. Junior midfielder Markela Bejleri netted two goals, and senior Gretchen Kron added one of her own in the shutout win.
Quinnipiac finishes the regular season with a 12-4 overall record (.750 winning percentage), which is the best regular season finish for the team in the team's Division I era.
The Bobcats earned the two seed in the MAAC Tournament and will host the quarterfinal game on Sunday, Oct. 31. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m., against the No. 7 seeded Marist Red Foxes.

First Half
- (24' – Quinnipiac 1, Fairfield 0): Bejleri received a pass from senior Selena Salas at the top of the 18-yard box, took one dribble and hit a shot with her left foot. The shot went past Fairfield's Juliette Grasso and into the left corner. Senior Emily Loney also tallied an assist on the game-winning goal.
- (44' – Quinnipiac 2, Fairfield 0): Bejleri scored her second goal of the game in the 44th minute to give Quinnipiac a 2-0 lead. She received the ball at the top of the left side of the 18-yard box, cut inside to the middle past a Fairfield defender and drove a shot to the upper right corner of the goal.
- (68' – Quinnipiac 3, Fairfield 0): Kron netted her first goal of the season in the 68th minute to seal the Bobcats' victory. Salas took a corner for Quinnipiac and played the ball to junior Kayla Mingachos, who was positioned wide open on the right flank. Mingachos played it right back to Salas, who sent it into the box, and Kron was there to head the ball into the net.
- The Bobcats' 3-0 win is the team's third straight victory in 2021 against the Stags.
- Quinnipiac has outscored Fairfield 5-0 through three games played in 2021.
- The Bobcats are now 7-2-2 all-time against the Stags.
- Bejleri recorded her fifth goal of the year and is now ranked third on the team with 14 points, which is a career high. She also tallied her first multi-point game of the season.
