HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's soccer team lost its second game in a row to the Iona Gaels at home in a 2-1 battle. The Bobcats move to 10-4 on the season and 5-3 in the MAAC. Senior Selena Salas scored the Bobcats' lone goal on a penalty kick. Iona's Kedarjah Lewis and Kayla Thomas netted the two goals for the Gaels.

Quinnipiac out shot the Gaels, 20-5, with eight shots on goal and controlled 53% of the game's posssesion.

SCORING SUMMARY

FIRST HALF:

(4' – Quinnipiac 1, Iona 0): Sophomore Rebecca Cooke was taken down in the box by an Iona defender. Salas scored the penalty kick goal to give Quinnipiac a 1-0 lead early in the first half.

SECOND HALF:

(52' – Quinnipiac 1, Iona 1): The Gaels tied the game in the second half. Kedarjah Lewis netted a rocket of a shot inside the box past Quinnipaic's Sofia Lospinoso. Faith Preziosi and Mackenzie Meixner tallied assists.
(67' – Quinnipiac 1, Iona 2): Iona took a 2-1 lead after Kayla Thomas scored a header goal off an Iona corner kick. Kiera Haggerty recorded an assist after taking the corner.

NOTES

Salas recorded her seventh goal of the season off a penalty kick goal. She has scored six penalty kick goals this season.
The Bobcats out shot the Gaels, 20-5, with eight shots on goal.
Lospinoso had two saves in the loss, and Iona's Emma Havrilla made seven saves in the win.
Quinnipiac made 18 fouls in the loss, as compared to Iona's 12.
The Bobcats also held the advantage in corner kicks with 11; Iona had just three.
