Bobcats Ranked No. 13 in Poll
HAMDEN, Conn. – After finishing last season ranked No. 14, the Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team rose one spot, coming in at No. 13 in the USCHO.com Division I Men's Preseason Poll released on Monday, Oct. 26.
The Bobcats return to the USCHO.com poll in 2020 after spending eight weeks nationally ranked a season ago. Quinnipiac received 280 points in the poll, and is one of three ECAC Hockey schools to be nationally ranked.
Quinnipiac is coming off a 21-11-2 season, which included three wins against nationally ranked opponents, including No. 1 Cornell, 5-0, at the Frank Perrotti Jr. Arena.
The Bobcats return All-ECAC Hockey Second Team selection and senior captain Odeen Tufto after recording a career-high assist total of 31 in 2019-20. His seven goals and 31 assists saw him eclipse the 100-point mark for his career last season. He enters his senior season with 113 career points.
Quinnipiac also returns senior goaltender Keith Petruzzelli, who started all 34 games for the Bobcats last season. Petruzzelli finished last season with a goals-against-average just above two, and a save percentage of .920. He also added three shutouts last season, which tied his career high.
Quinnipiac added six student-athletes to the program, including forward Ty Smilanic who was recently drafted 74th overall by the Florida Panthers in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
