Bobcats travel to Columbus for ECAC/WCHA Showdown
HAMDEN, Conn. – The No. 10 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team is set for a two-game series at No. 5/5 Ohio State Jan. 24-25. The Bobcats are coming off a two-win weekend against No. 9/9 Harvard and Dartmouth and are looking to win the team's fifth and sixth-straight games in January.

Quinnipiac Ranked Once Again
The Bobcats have moved to the No. 10 spot in the USA Today/USAH Magazine Women's College Poll. This is the first time the team has been in the national rankings since the 2017-18 season when Quinnipiac opened the season ranked No. 9/9. The highest ranking the Bobcats have ever received came in the 2014-15 season when the team earned the No. 3 ranking in the USCHO.com Division I Women's Poll.
Bobcats' Last Time Out
Quinnipiac returned to conference play and earned two road victories against No. 9/9 Harvard and Dartmouth Jan. 10-11 before having a week off.
The Bobcats defeated the Harvard Crimson, 2-1, in Cambridge on Friday, Jan. 10. The Crimson struck first in the opening period, but the Bobcats would score two unanswered goals to earn the win. Senior Sarah-Eve Coutu-Godbout scored one minute after the Crimson's first goal. Junior Laura Lundblad scored the game-winning goal in the second period to lift the Bobcats over the Crimson.
On Saturday, Jan. 11, the Bobcats faced off against the Dartmouth Big Green. Coutu-Godbout scored her second goal of the weekend to open the Bobcats' scoring. The Big Green would tie the game 1-1, but the Bobcats scored four goals in the second period to take a 5-1 lead, which would be enough for the win.
Scouting Ohio State
The Buckeyes hold a 14-6-4 record on the season and a 9-4-3 conference record. The No. 5/5 Buckeyes are coming off a 1-1 weekend against the No. 1 Minnesota Gophers. Ohio State took the first game, 4-1, and Minnesota won the second, 2-1. Emma Maltais leads the team with 41 points on 15 goals and 26 assists. Andrea Braendli has played 20 games in the net for the Buckeyes, recording a 11-5-4 record, a .911 save percentage and 2.23 goals against average.
Last Time Against the Buckeyes
Quinnipiac hosted Ohio State in the 2018-19 season, dropping both games, 3-2. Coutu-Godbout and sophomore Lexie Adzija tallied two goal and two assists to lead the team in the first game. The Bobcats have lost all three matchups to the Buckeyes. The first game ever played between the two teams was Jan. 13, 2004.
Adzija on Fire
Sophomore Lexie Adzija leads the team with 23 points on 10 goals and 13 assists. Her 23-point total is ranked ninth in the ECAC in scoring. She has scored two goals and four assists through the opening four games of 2020. When Adzija scores a goal, the Bobcats are 7-1-1. The Ontario native had tallied six multi-point games this season.
Coutu-Godbout Cruising
Senior Sarah-Eve Coutu-Godbout is on a six-game point streak over the last month, recording four goals and two assists. She leads the team with 12 goals and has 17 points this season.
Bobcats on the Board
Five different Bobcats scored in the team's 5-1 win against Dartmouth including Coutu-Godbout, Adzija, sophomore Zoe Boyd, junior Laura Lundblad and senior Kenzie Prater. Prater is third on the team in scoring with four goals and 10 assists for 14 points. Lundblad scored the game-winning goal against Harvard and scored the team's fourth goal against the Big Green for two goals on the weekend. Junior Brooke Bonsteel tallied two assists and has four points in the last four games.
Work, Work, Work
The Bobcats are 8-1-1 since Nov. 22 and have won four-straight games to open 2020. The team has outscored opponents 14-5 over the last four games.
Non-Conference, Non-Stop
Quinnipiac holds a 7-1-1 record against non-conference opponents this season, which is the best record for the team since the 2015-16 season. The team has outscored non-ECAC opponents 32-12 this season.
Dominant Defensive Core
Quinnipiac's defensive core has allowed 38 goals this season, averaging 1.65 goals against per game, which is ranked fifth in the country. Senior Kenzie Prater leads the team with 36 blocks, followed by Reilly with 32.
Bobcat Special Teams
Quinnipiac currently ranks ninth in the country on the penalty kill (88.5%), going 54-61. The team also ranks ninth in the country on the power play (19.5%), converting 15 out of 77 attempts. The Bobcats remain one of the least-penalized teams in the nation with just 5.6 PIM per game this season. Coutu-Godbout scored a Bobcat power play in the team's 5-1 win over Dartmouth on Jan. 11.
