Five skaters score in 5-1 win over Dartmouth

HANOVER, N.H.– The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team completed the weekend sweep with a dominating 5-1 win over the Dartmouth Big Green. Five different Bobcats scored in the win. Senior netminder Abbie Ives tallied 24 saves in the Bobcats' fourth-straight win to open 2020.

SCORING SUMMARY

(6:05, 1st period, PP) – Quinnipiac 1, Dartmouth 0: The Bobcats struck early in the first period on the power play. Sophomore Zoe Boyd skated into the slot and shot at Dartmouth's Hanna Humphreys, and senior Sarah-Eve Coutu-Godbout scored on the rebound.
(8:56, 1st period, PP) – Quinnipiac 1, Dartmouth 1: The Big Green answered the Bobcats' first goal with a power play goal of their own. CC Bowlby scored on the back door past senior Abbie Ives to even the game, 1-1.
(12:19, 2nd period, EV) – Quinnipiac 2, Dartmouth 1: Sophomore Lexie Adzija recovered the puck before it went into the neutral zone off a Dartmouth turnover. She found Coutu-Godbout wide open on the back door, and Coutu-Godbout passed right back to Adzija, who finished first time past Dartmouth's Hanna Humphreys.
(13:35, 2nd period, EV) – Quinnipiac 3, Dartmouth 1: Senior Kenzie Prater stole the puck in the neutral zone and skated by herself to the right circle. She sniped a shot top-shelf past Humphreys to extend the Bobcats' lead to 3-1.
(16:48, 2nd period, EV) – Quinnipiac 4, Dartmouth 1: Junior Laura Lundblad scored her second goal of the weekend from the same spot as Prater and in the same fashion. Junior Brooke Bonsteel and Prater tallied assists on the goal.
(19:53, 2nd period, EV) – Quinnipiac 5, Dartmouth 1: With just seven seconds remaining in the second period, Adzija sent the puck across the face of the goal to sophomore Zoe Boyd on the left circle, who sniped it above Dartmouth's Kay Wormsbecher right shoulder to give Quinnipiac a 5-1 lead.

NOTES

Five different Bobcats scored in the team's fourth win of 2020. Four Bobcats had a goal and an assist in the win, including Boyd, Prater, Coutu-Godbout and Adzija.
Coutu-Godbout tallied her fifth point in five-straight games and has recorded 12 goals and five assists for 17 points this season.
Sophomore Lexie Adzija scored the game-winner in the second period, along with an assist on Boyd's goal. She leads the team with 10 goals and 13 assists for 23 points this season.
Prater tallied a goal and an assist in the win and now has four goals and 10 assists for 14 points this season.
Lundblad notched her second goal of the weekend and has four points on three goals and one assist this season.
Boyd recorded her second goal of the year and now has two goals and five assists for seven points.
Bonsteel tallied two assists this weekend.
Ives had 24 saves in her third-straight win of the year. Ives and the defensive core allowed just two goals this weekend.
