Bobcats Open MAAC Play on Oct. 2 vs. Saint Peter's in Hamden
HAMDEN Conn. – Quinnipiac men's soccer wrapped up 2019 non-conference play on Tuesday afternoon at the QU Soccer Stadium, falling by the final score of 3-1 vs. No. 18 New Hampshire.
Tomas Svecula netted a penalty kick to tie the game in the 79th minute, then the nationally-ranked Wildcats scored twice in the final five minutes of regulation to secure the win.

- (36' – New Hampshire 1, Quinnipiac 0): New Hampshire got on the board first with just less than 10 minutes to go in the first half. Jonny Wolf got the ball into the box on a throw in, and Josh Bauer was able to get a head on it and find the back of the net for the score.
- (79' – Quinnipiac 1, New Hampshire 1): The Bobcats evened the match in the 79th minute. Jason Budhai drew a foul from inside the penalty box, then freshman Tomas Svecula blasted the penaly kick into the lower right side of the net to tie the contest.
- (86' – New Hampshire 2, Quinnipiac 1): Jacob Gould gave New Hampshire the lead again just seven minutes later, receiving a chip pass from Antonio Colacci inside the box and converting for the goal.
- (89' – New Hampshire 3, Quinnipiac 1): Antonio Colacci gave the Wildcats a two-goal lead, scoring on a penalty kick with 1:43 remaining.
- Svecula's goal is his second of the season. The freshman now has two goals and two assists for a team-high six total points.
- Total shots were 29-2 in favor of New Hampshire. The Bobcats attempted two corner kicks.
- Jared Mazzola made seven more saves. He now has a 1.48 goals-against average so far in 2019.
- Dejan Duric, Conor McCoy, Christian Casagranda and Henry Wiegand played for all 90 minutes of the contest.
- The Bobcats begin MAAC play next week on Oct. 2, hosting Saint Peter's at 3:00 p.m. in Hamden.
