GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior outfielder Liam Scafariello (Southington, Connecticut) set the Division I program record with his 32^nd career home run Friday afternoon but the Quinnipiac baseball team fell to the UNC Greensboro Spartans, 12-5.

Scafariello came into the season tied with Ben Gibson '18 with 31 home runs before his eighth inning home run set the new marker. After eclipsing the Division I program record, Scafariello now has a chance to break the all-time program record of 39 set by Joe Zangari '00.

On the afternoon, Scafariello was 2 for 5 with a double in addition to his record-breaking home run to lead the Quinnipiac offense.

Evan Vulgamore (Bow, New Hampshire) singled, scored twice and drove in a run to help the offense while Colton Bender (Lebanon, Connecticut) drove in two RBIs with an eighth-inning double.

Scafariello set the Division I program record for career home runs as he begins his third season in a Quinnipiac uniform after beginning his career at San Jacinto College
In his first two seasons, Scafariello hit 15 and 16 home runs, respectively, to represent a big power threat for the Bobcats
He is now tied with Tim Belcher '97 for the fourth-most home runs in program history at 32, trailing Zangari (39), Nate Noyes '00 (38), Vin Siena '86 (34)
Bender's double was the first of his career after recording a home run and 11 RBIs in limited playing time last season
Vulgamore scored a pair of runs Friday night after scoring 35 times in 2018. He finished the day 1 for 3 with a single, RBI and a walk
Quinnipiac pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts on the mound, including four from starting pitcher Tyler Poulin (Randolph, New Jersey) and three from reliver Robert Lewis (Seaford, New York)
