Whelan Scores 9th Goal of 2019 in Victory
HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's soccer earned its fourth win over the last five games, downing Fairfield in a tight MAAC contest, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon at the QU Soccer Stadium.
Senior Eamon Whelan scored the lone Bobcats' goal, heading in a feed from Romain Daniellou in the 37th minute of play. With the victory, Quinnipiac moves to 6-2-1 in MAAC action.
Prior to the start of the contest, Quinnipiac honored eight members in a Senior Day ceremony. The Bobcats have won 39 total games over the last four seasons, and are now 28-9-2 in MAAC play since the 2019 senior class joined the program in 2015-16.
QUOTING HEAD COACH ERIC DA COSTA
"Credit to this group of seniors, they've had a great four year career here. It's just about players coming in and trying to leave the program in a better place than it was when they got here – and these guys certainly did that. We still have work to do, and hopefully there's more we can do here over the next few weeks to add to this group's resume. Their contributions on the field, in the classroom and in the community have been second-to-none, and we're really proud of them."
