Senior Forward Scores OT Winner in Road Victory
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Eamon Whelan recorded a hat trick on Wednesday afternoon at Siena, including the game-winning goal in the first overtime period to lift Quinnipiac men's soccer to a 4-3 win.
With the victory, the Bobcats pick up three more points in the MAAC standings and move to 5-2-1 in league play. Whelan now has 34 career goals, which ranks No. 3 in Quinnipiac program history.

SCORING SUMMARY
First Half
- (30' – Quinnipiac 1, Siena 0): Whelan got the Bobcats on the board at 29:04. Quinnipiac played the ball in on a free kick, then the senior forward tracked it down and headed the ball in just as he collided with the Siena keeper.
- (54' – Quinnipiac 2, Siena 0): Whelan scored again less than 10 minutes into the second half. He tracked down a ball from Romain Daniellou, then blasted it into the left side of the net from 10 yards out for his second goal of the day.
- (55' – Quinnipiac 2, Siena 1): Antonio Linge scored on a header from 6 yards out to get the Saints on the board – good for his first goal of the season.
- (56' – Quinnipiac 2, Siena 2): Matt Crisafulli then found the back of the net from 12 yards out, looping a shot into the right side of the goal to tie things 2-2.
- (73' – Quinnipiac 3, Siena 2): The Bobcats then scored on an own goal to go up 3-2. Connor McCoy tracked down a corner kick inside the box, then forced a Siena defender to deflect the ball backward for the score.
- (73' – Quinnipiac 3, Siena 3): Conor McGlynn scored less than a minute later, burying a penalty kick after the Bobcats' committed a hand ball.
- (99' – Quinnipiac 4, Siena 3): Whelan scored again with less than two minutes left in overtime, putting away a feed on a breakaway from the left side for the game-winner.
- With two more goals, Whelan now has 34 career scores. He is just one of nine active NCAA Division I men's soccer players with 34 career scores, and ranks No. 3 in Bobcats' program history.
- The senior now has a team-high eight goals in 2019, and has scored six times in MAAC play. The game-winning goal is his second of the season.
- Junior goalkeeper Jared Mazzola made six more saves, giving him 64 total stops in 2019.
- Total shots were 16-14 in favor of Siena. The Bobcats attempted nine shots on net, and had six corner opportunities.
- Quinnipiac is now 7-1-2 all-time vs. Siena, winning each of the last four matchups between the two teams.
- The Bobcats return home on Saturday, Nov. 2, hosting Fairfield in Hamden at 1:00 p.m. on Senior Day.
