HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Brijesh Patel has been announced as a nominee for the the NSCA College Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year Award as announced by the The National Strength and Conditioning Association earlier this month.
The award annually recognizes the best Strength and Conditioning coaches in collegiate athletics around the country.
"It's an honor to be nominated for this award by an organization that I have great admiration of. The NSCA has worked hard for our profession and its members for many years," Patel said of the recognition. "It's humbling to be up for this prestigious award and thank my peer coaches who thought enough of me."
Patel has been an integral part of Quinnipiac's success on the court and on the ice since joining the Bobcats in 2008 as the Head Strength and Conditioning coach. Patel primarily works with the men's and women's basketball and ice hockey teams at Quinnipiac, but also oversees the strength and conditioning development for all 21 varsity sports at Quinnipiac.
Since joining the Bobcats staff, Patel has enhanced the strength and conditioning program at Quinnipiac University behind his philosophy of "year-round preparation." Patel spearheads a department where each student-athlete is given his or her own individualized program that is designed to improve movement skills, core strength, power, speed, strength, balance and flexibility. The strength and conditioning staff makes sure that all areas of performance enhancement are covered and that the training is balanced among all components.
