
McKernan '18 Signs with ECHL's South Carolina Stingrays

Third Member from Class of 2018 to Sign Professional Contract for 2018-19 Season
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – Former Quinnipiac men's ice hockey defenseman Kevin McKernan '18 (Millbury, Massachusetts) has signed with the ECHL's South Carolina Stingrays, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
The Stingrays are the ECHL Affiliate of the 2018 Stanley Cup Champions Washington Capitals.
McKernan is the third member from the Class of 2018 to sign a contract for the 2018-19 season as Tanner MacMaster (Calgary, Alberta) signed with the American Hockey League's (AHL) Utica Comets and Landon Smith (Greenwood Village, Colorado) signed with Karlskrona HK from HockeyAllsvenskan, the second-highest league in Sweden.
Following the 2017-18 season, McKernan played nine regular season games for the ECHL's Fort Wayne Komets as well as eight playoff games where he recorded an assist.
McKernan wrapped up his four-year career with 134 games played. He netted 11 goals and added 24 assists for 35 points.
This past season, McKernan scored two goals and added six assists for eight points in 29 games played. He finished fifth on the team with 34 blocked shots, fourth among the team's defensemen.
He was a four-year selection to the ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team and served the 2017-18 season as an assistant captain.
Jones Twins Sign Contracts
Connor and Kellen Jones '14 each signed professional contracts for the 2018-19 season, their fifth full professional hockey seasons.
Connor was re-signed by the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the AHL affiliate of the New York Islanders. After splitting time between the ECHL's Worcester Railers and the Sound Tigers, Kellen signed this season with Västerviks IK of HockeyAllsvenskan.
Connor Jones played 68 games for the Sound Tigers in 2017-18 where he netted eight goals and nine assists for 17 points. He has played each of the past three seasons with the Sound Tigers.
Kellen Jones recorded four goals and five assists for nine points in 30 games with the Sound Tigers and had 10 goals with 12 assists for 22 points in 35 games with the Railers.
