HAMDEN, Conn. — Senior catcher Lexi Courtney and junior outfielder Erin Larsen earned first-team Google Cloud Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced today.
By earning All-District I distinction, both Courtney and Larsen are eligible for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced in June. Quinnipiac and Harvard are the only two schools in District I to have more than one player honored on this year's all-district team.
Courtney, who finished her second season with the Bobcats after transferring from junior college, hit .291 this spring with seven doubles, three triples, two homers and 19 RBI. She was also nominated for the MAAC Defensive Player of the Year Award for her work behind the plate after committing only six errors on the season. In the classroom, she is health science major at Quinnipiac and was chosen to the MAAC All-Academic Team.
Larsen led Quinnipiac in virtually every hitting category as a junior, batting .345 with eight homers and 29 RBI on the season. Her 26 walks, .453 on-base percentage, .619 slugging percentage and six stolen bases were also team-highs, while her 10 doubles ranked second. In the classroom, Larsen carries a 3.92 GPA as a civil engineering major and has twice been named to the MAAC All-Academic team.
Quinnipiac finished the 2018 season with a 22-29 record and a 9-11 mark in the MAAC, tying for sixth in the final league standings, but missing out on the sixth and final MAAC Tournament bid due to a tiebreaker.
