CHARLESTON, South Carolina – The Quinnipiac University women's golf team finished 27th out of 42 teams through the first round of the 2018 Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic, the largest collegiate golf tournament in the country this season.
The Bobcats shot a 305 as a team and were led by sophomore Alexandra Sazhin's (New Fairfield, Connecticut), who shot a 74 (+2) for the day. Freshman Queenie Lai (Hong Kong, China) shot a 75 (+3) while junior Luciana Tobia-Palza (La Paz, Bolivia) carded a 76 (+4).
QUOTABLE
Head Coach John O'Connor: "I'm very pleased with what happened on the golf course today. We had one day of practice before this round today and they hit the ball well, they were playing aggressive. Their issues came with their short game and putting, but that should work its way out as they get their feel back. I'm very pleased with how they played and their scores.
