HAMDEN, Connecticut – Quinnipiac women's basketball senior Carly Fabbri (Stratford, Connecticut) was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 1 Women's Basketball First Team, as announced by the organization on Thursday, February 22, 2018. Fabbri wins her first career CoSIDA Academic All-District honor and joins Erin Kerner '08 and Sara Esidore '03 as the only three Bobcats in program history to earn the distinctive academic honor. The announcement makes Fabbri immediately eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America Team honors, which will be voted on by the CoSIDA membership and announced in March.
Fabbri has accumulated a 3.89 cumulative grade-point average as a Physician Assistant major and is set to graduate with a bachelor's degree in May following four years as a Bobcat.
Fabbri is one of just eight student-athletes named to the District 1 First Team which is comprised of NCAA Division I institutions in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important contributor with at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) at her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games and must be in at least their sophomore season. Once nominations are received, CoSIDA membership then vote on deserving candidates.
Fabbri is averaging 4.9 assists per game in league games, which ranks first in the MAAC. More impressively, Fabbri leads the MAAC with a 3.19 assist-to-turnover ratio, which is seventh best in the nation.
The Bobcats will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 23, when they travel to take on Rider at Alumni Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
