QU Women's Lacrosse Falls to Yale in Home Opener

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team fell in a hard-fought matchup with the Yale Bulldogs in the first-ever game for the women's lacrosse program at the brand-new Quinnipiac Lacrosse Stadium, 13-8, on Wednesday February 21 2018. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 0-2 on the young season while the Bulldogs advance to 2-0 with the victory.

- Allison Kuhn (Kingsville, Maryland) struck for her first two goals of the season, with the first goal coming less-than two minutes into the opening half to give Quinnipiac the 1-0 lead. Her first goal was also the first goal at the Quinnipiac Lacrosse Stadium in women's lacrosse's program history. Her second came with 9:40 to play in the first half off an assist from Emily Byrne (Huntington, New York).

— QU Women's Lacrosse (@QU_WLAX) February 21, 2018 - The Bobcats continued their strong start with another goal, this time by Victoria Bobinski (Kinnelon, New Jersey), her second of the season to give Quinnipiac a 2-0 lead early in the first half. Her sister, Ashley, picked up her first assist of the season on the play.
- Yale responded with five unanswered goals to take a 5-2 lead before Quinnipiac answered with two more to pull within a goal, 5-4. Byrne scored her team-leading fourth goal of the year in the run.
- After Yale went on another run to take a 9-4 lead, Kayla Moreau (Pearl River, New York) struck for a goal with 17:35 to play in the second half, cutting Yale's lead to 9-5.
- Ashley Bobinkski scored twice in the second half for her second two-goal outings in as many games. Her first goal came with 12:03 to play in the second half to cut Yale's lead to 11-6, before following with another marker just 90 seconds later to cut Yale's lead to 11-7. The two goals were her third and fourth goals of the season after scoring twice against Brown in her last time out.
- Jenna Henningsen (East Kingston, New Hampshire) scored her first goal of the season for Quinnipiac with 3:49 in the second half to cut Yale's lead to 12-8 . Henningsen's goal came off an assist from Avery Drouin (Derry, New Hampshire) for the freshman's first point of her Quinnipiac career.
- Quinnipiac Kyle Larkin (Brightwaters, New York) posted a season-high 14 saves in goal for the Bobcats.
