Tyrese Williams Earns MAAC Rookie of the Week Honor

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's basketball freshman Tyrese Williams (Beacon, N.Y.) has been named MAAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the first time this season, as announced by the conference office on Monday, Dec. 10.

Williams recorded 26 points, nine rebounds and eight assists over two Quinnipiac wins this past week, shooting 9-for-18 from the floor for the Bobcats. He started in both games for Quinnipiac, scoring 10 points at Dartmouth on Dec. 5, then 16 points in Quinnipiac's latest win over Lafayette on Dec. 8.

In his first collegiate season, Williams has tallied 9.0 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest. He's scored at least 10 points in three of the last five games, and has played in 25+ minutes in each game so far this year.

Williams and the Bobcats return to action on Sunday, Dec. 16, participating in the 2018 Hall of Fame Holiday Showcase presented by Citi at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.
