QU Men's Basketball Defeats Siena 76-69, Completes First Season Sweep of Saints

HAMDEN, Conn. – Senior forward Chaise Daniels (Meriden, Conn.) had 17 points off the bench to lead five players in double figures as the Quinnipiac men's basketball team defeated Siena 76-69 on Sunday afternoon at the TD Bank Sports Center. The Bobcats, who defeated Siena on the road 71-70 on Jan. 1, completed a two-game sweep of the Saints for the first time since joining the MAAC in 2013-14.

- The seven-point margin of victory was the first time the Bobcats have won a game by more than two points all season. Quinnipiac's first six wins were by a combined nine points (three one-point wins, three two-point wins).
- Quinnipiac had five players in double figures for the second time this season (along with Columbia), In addition to Chaise Daniels' game-high 17, freshman Rich Kelly (Shelton, Conn.) had 16, freshman Jacob Rigoni (Adelaide, Australia) had 15, graduate student Isaiah Washington (Williamsport, Pa.) had 11 and senior Cameron Young (Los Angeles, Calif.).
- The Bobcats led 38-32 at the half, but leading scorer Cameron Young went into the locker room with four fouls, after picking up his third, followed by a technical in the final minute of the half.
- A Daniels lay-up with 12:33 left in the second half gave Quinnipiac its first double-digit lead at 52-42
- Siena got as close as four points at 58-54 on a jumper from Prince Oduro in the paint, but Rigoni hit a three-pointer to start an 8-0 run, which was capped off by a three-point play from Washington on a tip-in with 4:18 to go to make the score 66-54.
- Siena closed to within seven points twice in the final minute, behind 10 points from Manny Camper, who hadn't scored all season coming into the game, but could come no closer.
- Quinnipiac shot 15-21 (71.4 percent in the first half), including 12-15 on two-point shots, then made its first six two-point shots of the second half to improve to 18-21 from inside the arc. The Bobcats ended 22-29 on two-pointers (75.9 percent) and a season-high 61.4 percent overall (27-44).
- Rigoni was 3-4 on three-pointers to improve to just under 50 percent on the season (39-79), while leading the Bobcats with a personal-best eight rebounds. .
