SCORING SUMMARY
- 1:10 (MON 1, QU 0): Monmouth came out firing as the reigning MAAC Rookie of the Year Madie Gibson worked some magic on the far sideline, dribbling down and centering to Rachelle Ross who made no mistake with a strong finish.
- 34:08 (MON 2, QU 0): The same combination of Ross and Gibson linked up again later in the first half as Gibson found space and crossed far post where Ross was there once again with a thunderous finish.
- Quinnipiac was outshot 18-5 and 11-3 in shots on-target
- An ultra-psychial affair, Quinnipiac (18) and Monmouth (9) combined for 27 fouls in the match (16 in the second half alone)
- Jess Gargan (Dublin, Ireland), Nadya Gill (Toronto, Ontario) and Al Pelletier (Cheshire, Connecticut) each recorded one shot on-target for the match
- Olivia Myszewski (Elm Grove, Wisconsin) did all she could in net, making eight saves including two in the final five minutes as Monmouth was denied despite springing loose for two breakaways
- Myszewski saved all six Monmouth shots on-target in the second half
- Emma Greco (Burlington, Ontario) also saved a rifled Madie Gibson shot off in the line in the ninth minute just 10 yards from the net
- The loss snaps the Bobcats' six-game MAAC home winning streak as this marks the first time Quinnipiac has lost a home conference game since the 2015 regular season finale against Siena
- This result is just the second time Quinnipiac has been held scoreless (3-0 loss at Drexel on Aug. 21) and the first time in five league games
- The Hawks continue their dominance in the MAAC, moving their conference unbeaten streak to 18 straight games (17-0-1), outscoring opponents 59-6 in that span
- Monmouth has still not allowed a goal through four MAAC games and have recorded eight shutouts in 11 contests this season
Quinnipiac faces another New Jersey MAAC foe on Wednesday afternoon as the Bobcats welcome Rider to the Quinnipiac Soccer Stadium for a 2:00 PM start. The Broncs defeated the Bobcats, 2-1, last year in Lawrenceville.
