QU Women's Golf Shatters Program Tournament Record With Win At Dartmouth Invitational

HANOVER, N.H. – In its first tournament of the 2017-18 season, the Quinnipiac women's golf team turned in a record-breaking performance to win the 2017 Dartmouth Invitational at the Hanover Country Club. The Bobcats shattered their previous 36-hole record of 616 (+40) at the 2016 MAAC Championship with a 588 (+12) to win their first regular-season tournament since the 2016 Hartford Invitational.
A day after breaking Quinnipiac's 18-hole record with a 65 for the first round of the Dartmouth Invitational, junior Luciana Tobia-Palza (La Paz, Bolivia) completed the second round with a 141 (-3) to finished second overall. Tobia-Palza's 141 broke Nicole Scola's 36-hole record of 145 at the 2015 Brown Bear Invitational. Tobia-Palza's previous-best 36-hole scored was a 150 at the 2016 MAAC Championship.

- Alexandra Sazhin (New Fairfield, Conn.) improved from her first-day total with a career-best 72 (E) for the second round. Sazhin completed the tournament with a career-best 145, good for the second-best 36-hole score in program history and a fourth-place finish at the Dartmouth Invitational.
- Sazhin's previous-best 36-hole score was a 153 at last year's MAAC Championship.
- Estefania Morales (Caracas, Venezuela) also improved on her first-day score with a career-best 73 to match with her first-day 74 for a career-best 147, good for the fifth-best score in program history and a tie for seventh place.
- Julia Kemmling (Berlin, Conn.) and Queenie Lai (Hong Kong, China) both shot 151 for the tournament. Kemmling shot a 76 on the second day to go with a 75 from the first day while Lai shaved three strokes off her first-day score to shoot a 74 for the final 18 holes of the tournament as they tied for 17th overall.
- Freshman Elena Ybarra (Madrid, Spain) also dropped a stroke from her first day score, carding a 79 on Sunday to go with Saturday's 80 for a 159. Abby Chase (Beaver Dam, Wisconsin) matched her 81 from Saturday with another 81 for a 162 for the tournament.
