QU Field Hockey Blanks Liberty, 1-0, To Improve To 2-0 In BIG EAST

HAMDEN, Connecticut – The Quinnipiac University field hockey team defeated Liberty, 1-0, in a BIG EAST Conference match-up at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey Stadium in Hamden, Conn. With the win, the Bobcats remain undefeated at 2-0 in BIG EAST play while also improving to 3-6 overall. Liberty drops to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play. Quinnipiac sophomore goalkeeper Livy Golini (York, Maine) picked up her first career shutout with a four-save performance while Lauren Belskie (Hillsborough, New Jersey) scored her team-leading third goal of the season.

- Lauren Belskie (Hillsborough, New Jersey) struck for her third goal of the year on a penalty corner with less than 18 minutes to play in the first half.
- With the goal, Belskie is now tied with Valerie Perkins (Mohegan Lake, New York) with a team-leading three goals to date.
- All of Belskie's goals have come off penalty corners for the Bobcats this season.
- Belskie's goal off the corner started with Selina Reichert (Lower Hutt, New Zealand) inserting the ball to Dayna Barlow (Port Elizabeth, South Africa). Barlow then handed the ball to Montana Fleming (Delran, New Jersey) who passed it to Ines Ruiz Martinez (Madrid, Spain). Ruiz Martinez then stepped around a defender and moved the ball to Belskie who unleashed a shot on goal. The assist was Ruiz Martinez's first of the season.
- Livy Golini (York, Maine) stopped all four of Liberty's shots-on-goal for her first career shutout.
- The Bobcats' 1-0 win was the team's first shutout against a BIG EAST opponent since Quinnipiac joined the league last season. In addition, it was the first time Liberty was held scoreless in a BIG EAST game since it joined last season.
