Parker's Equalizer in 61st Minute Forces Tie

Lowell, Mass. – The Quinnipiac men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw on the road Wednesday night against No. 25 UMass Lowell. The River Hawks struck for an early first-half goal, but Derek Parker (Cromwell, Connecticut) scored the equalizer in the 61st minute to force overtime and the eventual tie.

NOTES

UMass Lowell took an early 1-0 lead after Jakov Basic scored his second goal of the season in the sixth minute

Parker's equalizer in the 61st minute goal tied the contest at 1-1.

Parker, was nearly trapped in the near-side corner and launched the ball towards the net from 20 yards out. While sailing towards the goal, the ball took a sharp right hook and found the back of the net.

The goal was the first of the season for Parker and first of the defender's career.

UMass Lowell outshot Quinnipiac 13-9, but the Bobcats outshot the River Hawks in shots-on-goal, 4-3.

Chrysostomos Iakovidis (Thessaloniki, Greece) made two saves in the draw.

The Bobcats had eight different players attempt a shot.

James Doig (Liverpool, England) recorded two shots on goal, which was tops on the team.
Doig still remains one win away from tying former Quinnipiac goalkeeper Borja Angoita as the winningest players in program history, at 32 victories.

"I am proud of our boys and the effort that they put in. It was a fantastic effort from start to finish, but this is what we want from our team all the time. Coming off the Brown game, to have this type of response and put this type of effort in against a really good team, we are pleased with that."
