HAMDEN, Connecticut – The Quinnipiac women's soccer team opened the new season with a historic first official team practice in the newly constructed turf stadium.
The Bobcats are the first program to arrive back on campus from the summer offseason and kicked off their preseason schedule with the first team practice on Wednesday afternoon. Redshirt senior Laura Nicholas (Derry City, Northern Ireland) along with seniors Carly Glaser (New City, New York) and Jillian Consolini (Suffield, Connecticut) offered their thoughts on the new season, equipment and turf field. Quinnipiac is coming off a tremendous 12-win season in 2016 that saw the Bobcats earn a spot in the MAAC Tournament for the first time in a non-automatic qualifying season. Once in the conference postseason tournament, Quinnipiac rode a magical run that included a home quarterfinal win over Canisius (3-0) followed by an upset over Siena in the semifinals (1-0) before falling to Monmouth in the title game. That run saw the Bobcats win their first postseason game in 16 years, host a conference postseason game for the first time and play in the title game for just the third time (first since 2000).
