The Quinnipiac women's tennis team is back in action on Thursday, April 20, as the Bobcats hit the road to take on Fordham at 3 p.m.
LAST TIME VS FORDHAM
The last time Quinnipiac took on Fordham, the Bobcats fell 4-1 in clinching style format. The Bobcats swept the doubles point but faltered in singles play.
SCOUTING THE RAMS
Fordham owns a 17-2 record and is undefeated in Patriot League play, going 3-0 in conference play.
LAST TIME OUT
The last time the Quinnipiac women's tennis team took the court, it swept MAAC rival, 7-0 to improve its winning-streak to five straight games. The Bobcats also remained unbeaten in MAAC play, moving to 5-0.
Quinnipiac was dominant on the court against Fairfield, sweeping the Stags while not dropping a single set in the duel. Sitilia Rencheli (Sarasota, Florida), Jennifer Lu (Cypress, California), Sydney Young (Austin, Texas) and Layla Rodriguez (Rancho Santa Margarita, California) all won multiple matches on the day.
KEEP THE STREAK ALIVE
After defeating Fairfield on Tuesday, April. 18, including MAAC Tournament matches, the Bobcats are now 32-0 in matches against MAAC opponents since joining the new league coming from the Northeast Conference in the 2013-14 season.
MAAC MONSTERS
In the Bobcats' five MAAC dual matches, they have gone 42-3 in competition. The team has posted a 28-2 record in singles play against MAAC opponents and a 14-1 record in doubles competition.
DOMINANT DUOS
The Bobcats own a 72-27 (.727) record in doubles play this season. The duo of Horton and Young leads the team in wins with 22. However, the team of Rodriguez and Rencheli sit in second with 12 wins.
CHEMISTRY IS EVERYTHING
Of the 16 different doubles combinations that head coach Paula Miller has used this season, 13 of those duos have winning records.
NEW PARTNERS, SAME RESULTS
Kelsi Oliphant (Calgary, Alberta) and Rencheli have been dominant as a duo since the late season pairing, winning their first eight matches together, holding an impressive 8-0 record. All eight of the duo's wins have been in the No. 2 doubles spot.
Lu and Rodriguez remain unbeaten as a duo as well, as the two own a 5-0 record together this season, with all wins coming from the No. 3 doubles spot.
ALL THEY DO IS WIN
As the team heads into the match, Young leads the team in overall wins with 38, while Horton sits in second with 36 wins and Rodriguez is in third with 35 wins.
NEW CAREER-HIGH
Horton has 22 singles wins on the year, which is the most she has had in a single season. Her previous single-season high was 20 singles wins.
