HOME STRETCH
The Quinnipiac women's tennis team is back in action on Tuesday, April 18, as the Bobcats welcome Fairfield to Hamden for a MAAC duel at the QU Outdoor Tennis Courts at 3 p.m.
LAST TIME VS. FAIRFIELD
The last time the Bobcats took on the Stags, Quinnipiac won 7-0 on the road. Sydney Young (Austin, Texas), Jennifer Lu (Cypress, California), Rachel Horton (Stamford, Connecticut), Proyfon Lohaphaisan (Santa Clarita, California), Kelsi Oliphant (Calgary, Alberta) and Alexandra Mircea (Glen Rock, New Jersey) all won two matches on the day.
SCOUTING THE STAGS
Fairfield comes into the match with a 5-14 record and have a 4-1 record in MAAC play. However, Fairfield is 2-5 in their last seven matches.
LAST TIME OUT
The last time the Quinnipiac women's tennis team took the court, it defeated Binghamton, 6-1 on Wednesday at the QU Outdoor Tennis Courts.
The win was the Bobcats' fourth in a row and improved their record to 9-7 (4-0 MAAC). Layla Rodriguez (Santa Rancho Margarita), Oliphant and Horton all won two matches on the day.
MAAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Quinnipiac women's tennis senior Sitilia Rencheli (Sarasota, Florida) has been named the MAAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Wednesday, April 12.
This is the second time Rencheli has received the award and third time of her career. Rencheli is the third Quinnipiac women's tennis player to be honored with a weekly award this season, as fellow seniors Rachel Horton (Stamford, Connecticut) and Sydney Young (Austin, Texas) won the award earlier this season as well.
Rencheli went 4-0 this week, winning two matches in both of Quinnipiac's duels against Fairleigh Dickinson and Siena.
KEEP THE STREAK ALIVE
After defeating Siena on Sunday, April. 9, including MAAC Tournament matches, the Bobcats are now 31-0 in matches against MAAC opponents since joining the new league coming from the Northeast Conference.
MAAC MONSTERS
In the Bobcats' four MAAC dual matches, they have gone 33-3 in competition. The team has posted a 22-2 record in singles play against MAAC opponents and a 11-1 record in doubles competition.
DOMINANT DUOS
The Bobcats own a 69-27 (.719) record in doubles play this season. The duo of Horton and Young leads the team in wins with 21. However, the team of Rodriguez and Rencheli sit in second with 12 wins.
CHEMISTRY IS EVERYTHING
Of the 16 different doubles combinations that head coach Paula Miller has used this season, 13 of those duos have winning records.
ALL THEY DO IS WIN
As the team heads into the match, Young leads the team in overall wins with 36, while Horton sits in second with 34 wins and Rodriguez is in third with 33 wins.
JOIN THE 10 CLUB
Quinnipiac has four players that have reached at least 10 singles wins on the season already. Young leads the team with 14 singles wins, but Rodriguez, Horton narrowly trail with 13 wins apiece. Lu is right behind with 12 wins.
What's On Tap?
Following the matches against Fairfield and Fordham, the Quinnipiac women's tennis team will be back in action on Saturday, April 22, as it travels to take on Marist in a MAAC duel at 1 p.m. The Bobcats will then close MAAC play on Sunday when they travel to take on Monmouth at 11 a.m.
