Sarah Shewan Ties Career-High in Points in Win
HAMDEN, Conn. - Senior forward Sarah Shewan (Russell, Ontario) tied her career-high in points with 24 and pulled in 13 rebounds as the Quinnipiac women's basketball team edged reigning Atlantic-10 champion Dayton, 72-66 on Tuesday evening at the TD Bank Sports Center.
The win was Quinnipiac's second in a row as the Bobcats close a short two-game homestand and get ready to hit the road to take on the University of Richmond and Hampton University on the road this weekend. Sophomore Vanessa Udoji (Randolph, Massachusetts) tied her season-high with 14 points and redshirt-junior Jen Fay (Lynbrook, New York) grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds in the win.

- The Bobcats never trailed in the contest, holding the lead the rest of the way after the first basket, a Paula Strautmane (Riga, Latvia) three-pointer at the 8:09 mark of the first quarter.
- The last time the Bobcats led in a contest from start to finish was in the upset win against No. 5 seeded Marquette in Quinnipiac's 68-65 victory over the Golden Eagles in the First Round of last season's NCAA Tournament.
- Sarah Shewan (Russell, Ontario) earned her first start of the season and scored 10 of the Bobcats' 17 first-quarter points, including five points in an 8-0 Quinnipiac run to start the game.
- Shewan finished with a double-double, totaling 20 points and 13 rebounds, both season-highs.
- The double-double was the first of the season for Shewan and fourth of her career.
- Shewan's 13 rebounds left her one shy of tying her career-high of 14, which she grabbed in a win over Marist last season (2/23).
