
QU Women's Golf Tied for 7th At Dartmouth Invitational

HANOVER, New Hampshire – The Quinnipiac University women's golf team completed the first day of the 14-team Dartmouth Invitational tied for seventh place. The Bobcats combined to shoot a season-best 317 (+29) for the first round of Dartmouth's tournament at Hanover Country Club.
Julia Kemmling (Berlin, Connecticut) led the Bobcats with a 76 (+4) for her top score of the young season and tie of 15th place out of 78 golfers. Kemmling shaved off more-than six strokes off her season average of 82.25. Kemmling was second on the Bobcats' roster with an 80.00 as a freshman in 2015-16.
Luciana Tobia-Palza (La Paz, Bolivia) was a stroke behind Kemmling with a 77 (+5), for a tie of 21st place and more than three strokes better than her 80.75 average. Emily Ribbins (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands), playing as an individual, shot a 79 (+2) for her best round since Apr. 12, 2015.
Sophomore Estefania Morales (Caracas, Venezuela) and freshman Alexandra Sazhin (New Fairfield, Connecticut) both carded an 82 (+10). Sazhin entered the tournament with a team-leading 77.25 average through the first two tournaments of her career and had yet to shoot a round in an 80's through her first four rounds.
Morales saw the first action of the season for the Bobcats after playing in just one tournament in 2015-16. Morales posted an 83.75 as a freshman in 2014-15, good for third in Quinnipiac's line-up.
Boston College led the field with a 283 (-5), followed by Darmouth (301, +13), St. John's (306, +18), Central Connecticut State (308, +20), Dartmouth B (309, +21) and Sacred Heart (316, +28) ahead of Quinnipiac in the seventh spot with Hartford (317, +29). Wagner (318, +30), Boston University (321, +33), Siena (323, +35), Alban (325, +37), Fairfield (340, +52) and Holy Cross (367, +79) rounded-out the field.
The Bobcats are back in action on Sunday, Sept. 25 for the final 18 holes of the Dartmouth Invitational at the Hanover Country Club in Hanover, New Hampshire.
