
QU Men's Tennis Clinches No. 2 Seed in MAAC Tournament with 4-0 Win at Siena

WATERVLIET, New York – The Quinnipiac men's tennis team clinched the No. 2 overall seed in the 2016 MAAC Tournament Saturday afternoon as the Bobcats cruised to the 4-0 clinch-style victory over the Siena Saints.
Quinnipiac's win was its 14th of the season as the Bobcats improve to 14-7 (6-1 MAAC) while Siena lost its 18th match in row to fall to 0-15 (0-6 MAAC). Quinnipiac's 14 wins are tied for the most in a single season in program history with the 2004-05 team that reached the NCAA Tournament.
Kei Ezaka (Ojai, California), Jonas Kuwert (Jesteberg, Germany) and Ryoma Haraguchi (New York, New York) all picked up two individual victories for the Bobcats.
Ezaka's win gives him 36 this season to tie his single-season career-high set as a freshman in 2013-14 while Haraguchi extended his single-season career-high win total to 23 matches. Kuwert won the 93rd match of his career
Luke Roser (Bernardsville, New Jersey) picked up his 24th doubles victory of the season to tie James Kwei for the most in a single season in Division I program history while his 39th win moves him into second place in Division I program history behind former teammate Eric Ambrosio's win total from last season.
Julian Rozenstein (Marlboro, New Jersey) and Ben Teicher (Kendall Park, New Jersey) started off the winning ways for the Bobcats in doubles with a 6-0 win over Alexander Reed and Justin Hsu. The win was Teicher's first of the season. Roser and Ezaka teamed at No. 1 doubles for the first time this season and picked up their third win together defeating Alessandro Saglia and Diego Lebron, 6-2, to clinch the doubles point. Kuwert and Haraguchi paired up for the first time this season and cruised to a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles over Jace Koretz and Evan Nierman.
Ezaka was also the first singles match of the day completed as he won in straight sets over Saglia at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-2. Kuwert had one of the most impressive victories of the day as he did not drop a single game to Lebron, sweeping him 6-0, 6-0. Haraguchi clinched the victory for the Bobcats at No. 5 singles as he battled to a 6-1, 6-0 over Hsu.
The Quinnipiac men's tennis team will wrap up the regular season on Sunday, April 24 when they host the ASA College Avengers at 1 PM at the QU Outdoor Tennis Courts.
