Quinnipiac Bobcats will travel this Saturday, November 5, 2016 to meet the Penn State Nittany Lions at Mount Saint Mary's University for both teams last matchup of the regular season before playoffs begin next weekend.
BOBCATS SUCCESS THIS YEAR
Quinnipiac is currently 7-1 as it heads into its final game of the season against Penn State University. The Bobcats opened the season with a 32-19 win against Army West Point before rattling off victories against American International (44-0), Norwich (64-3), Notre Dame College (30-5) and Brown (77-7). Last weekend saw a 38-34 win over American International College on the Bobcats senior day. The Bobcats have outscored opponents 510-87 currently on the 2016 season.
SCOUTING THE NITTANY LIONS
The Penn State University rugby team holds a 9-2-1 overall record with an undefeated 6-0 in their Big Ten Conference. The Nittany Lions have seen wins over a number of top tier rugby programs including University of Michigan (128-0), Rutgers (98-5), and Army West Point (24-7).
OVERALL AGAINST PENN STATE
The first and only time the Quinnipiac Bobcats have met the Penn State Nittany Lions was back during the 2014-2015 season at the ACRA National Semifinals in Palm Coast, Florida. During that matchup the Bobcats were unable to hold off a late Nittany Lion surge in the second half as PSU scored four consecutive tries to close out the game 35-12. Now in 2016 Quinnipiac is defending national champions in the NIRA and Penn State is a member of the Big Ten Conference making this non-conference matchup one for the books.
LAST TIME OUT
Saturday, October 29, 2016 saw the Bobcats take on American International College for the home-team win at Southington High School in Connecticut.

Tayler Schussler (Westminster, MD) was next to score for the Bobcats, getting into the end zone to make it 10-0. Madison Gegeckas (Dowington, PA) made the conversion, and QU took a 12-0 lead. Quinnipiac's Flora Poole (Christchurch, New Zealand) was next to get on the stat sheet, tumbling into the end zone for a try to extend QU's lead to 17-3 with just 15 minutes left in the half. Karee Helgerson (Portland, OR) scored the next, and Gegeckas nailed the conversion to put Quinnipiac up 24-3. The Bobcats led 24-8 at half.
