SENIOR DAY MATCHUP
Quinnipiac Women's Rugby hosts American International College at Southington High School this Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016 at 1:00PM for the Bobcats' Senior Day. Prior to the start of the contest, Quinnipiac Athletics will recognize and honor the careers of seven senior players - Abby Cook, Madison Gegeckas, Maggie Myles, Tayler Schussler, Lindey Wise, Rachel Wrinn and Hailey Wyatt.
BOBCATS SUCCESS SO FAR
Quinnipiac is currently 6-1 as it heads into its final game of the National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA) regular season against the Yellow Jackets. The Bobcats opened the season with a 32-19 win against Army West Point before rattling off victories against American International (44-0), Norwich (64-3), Notre Dame College (30-5) and Brown (77-7).
OVERALL AGAINST AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE
The 2015 season saw the Bobcats first all-time matchup against the Yellow Jackets in Springfield, Massachusetts. Sophomore inside center Ilona Maher (Burlington, Vermont) recorded a career-high five tries while adding an assist to the 54-21 victory over American International College. Quinnipiac repeated this success in their second overall matchup with AIC earlier this season with a 44-0 victory.
SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS
American International College enters the match with a 3-4 NIRA record on the 2016 season. The Yellow Jackets are coming off of a 26-13 win over Norwich University last Saturday, October 22, 2016. AIC started the season with a 24 – 22 loss after a back-and-forth matchup against Dartmouth College. The Bobcats first matchup against the Yellow Jackets was seen in the second week of play where QU dominated 44-0.
SPEAKING OF DOMINATING
Quinnipiac Bobcats recorded their second shutout of the season with a 215-0 win over Castleton University last weekend. With the win, the Bobcats improved to 6-1, bouncing back from their first loss of the season at Central Washington, which snapped an 11-match win streak dating back to last year.

POST-SEASON PLAY
Following its regular-season finale against AIC, the Bobcats will prepare to defend their 2015 NIRA National Championship when the 2016 NIRA Tournament commences on Nov. 12. Army West Point will host the NIRA Semifinals on Nov. 18 followed by the Championship Game on Nov. 20.

- Fifteen different players had tries for the Bobcats on the day, including the first career tries for freshmen Carlyn Plowman (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Emma Shipton (Littleton, Colo), Niamh Savage (Plano, Texas) and Meg Rose (Silverthorne, Colo.) in the second half, as well as the first of the season for junior Lillian Weldon (Breckenridge, Colo.).
- Junior center Ilona Maher (Burlington, Vt.) had five tries and six assists to lead an offense that had a multitude of contributors.
- The three-try club included five members, as senior flanker Hailey Wyatt (Breckenridge, Colo.) had four tries and three assists, junior scrum half Mason Johnson (Olympia, Wash.) had three tries and two assists, junior wing Rebecca Haight (Oconomowoc, Wis.) had three tries and an assist, and junior prop Karee Helgerson (Portland, Ore.) had three tries.
- Junior center Flora Poole (Christchurch, New Zealand) had two tries and five assists, and Savage had five assists to go with her first collegiate try.
- Senior fullback Maggie Myles (Emmitsburg, Md.) had a try and four assists, while freshman wing Emily Roskopf (Pleasanton, Calif.) and sophomore wing Caitria Sands (Essex, Vt.) each had two tries and an assist.
