
QU Women's Tennis Concludes Play at Quinnipiac Invitational

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's tennis team wrapped up play at the Quinnipiac Invitational Sunday morning as Rachel Horton (Stamford, Connecticut) and Proyfon Lohaphaisan (Santa Clarita, California) fell to Drexel's Erin Bowsher and Honami Yazawa, 6-1, in the Flight "A" doubles final.
Horton and Lohaphaisan were the only Quinnipiac players in action on Sunday as they reached the Flight "A" finals in doubles play. Despite the loss, the Quinnipiac duo remain 7-2 on the season and have the most doubles victories on the team. Lohaphaisan currently leads the team with an 8-3 individual record through the first two tournaments of the season.
In the match, Bowsher and Yazawa opened up with a 3-0 lead heading into the second break of the match. Horton and Lohaphaisan got a point back through the next two games to trail 4-1 at the third break of the match but Bowsher and Yazawa pulled away to win the final two games to take the match, 6-1.
The Quinnipiac women's tennis team returns to action next weekend in West Point, New York as the Army West Point Black Knights host the West Point Invite from Friday, Sept. 25 through Sunday, Sept. 27 with competition beginning each day at 9 A.M.
