Quinnipiac is now undefeated through its first three conference games for the first time since 2005 when the Bobcats opened the Northeast Conference schedule with four-straight victories.
For Costanzo, the second-year Bobcat now has four goals in her last four games after posting her first multiple-goal game of her career against the Saints. Costanzo scored Quinnipiac's first goal of the season on Aug. 28 in a 2-1 loss to UMass Lowell and was held scoreless through the Bobcats next 10 games before scoring in back-to-back contests against Bryant and Providence last weekend.Costanzo is now tied with Savanna Reilly (Hamden, Connecticut) for the team-lead with five goals for the year.
Reilly and Dayna Barlow (Port Elizabeth, South Africa) also scored for Quinnipiac while Meghan McCullough (Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania) had two assists. McCullough now has a MAAC-leading 10 helpers for the year. The senior midfielder extended her scoring streak to four games in which she has accumulated a goal and seven assists for nine points. Haley Swartz (Downington, Pennsylvania) had an assist as well while freshman Kyla Johns (Darien, Connecticut) picked up her first career point with an assist on Barlow's goal.
Reilly's team-best fifth goal of the year came off a pass from McCullough, who blasted the ball on goal from just above the circle. Reilly was able to get her stick between a defender and Siena's goalkeeper and tip it into the Siena goal. The Saints answered three minutes later with Maggie Liguori's first goal of the year to make it 1-1.
Later in the half, Costanzo potted her first of the game after Swartz dribbled into the circle, spun and fired a reverse that sailed high and wide. Costanzo - stationed on the opposite post - was able to get a stick on it and re-direct it past Siena's Mary Drabich to give Quinnipiac a 2-1 lead. Just before the half, Siena leading goal-scorer Ashley Dona received a pass from Fabiana Citro and steered a shot around Quinnipiac keeper Megan Conaboy (Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania) to tie the game.
Coming out of the half, McCullough picked up her second assist of the game when she fired a pass from the right of the circle to Costanzo on the opposite post. Costanzo's one-timer beat Drabich to give Quinnipiac a 3-2 lead. With time running down, Barlow scored her second of the year off a pass from Johns that gave the first-year Bobcat her first carer point.
Quinnipiac resumes MAAC play with a pair of road contests t Rider on Friday, Oct. 23 and Monmouth on Sunday, Oct. 25. Quinnipiac plays its final game of the year at home against Fairfield on Nov. 1.
