HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac University men's basketball head coach Tom Moore has announced the signing of three student-athletes – Andrew Robinson (Silver Spring, Md.), Aaron Robinson (Silver Spring, Md.) and Abdulai Bundu (Upper Marlboro, Md.) – to national letters of intent with the Bobcats.
"I am thrilled to announce that Andrew Robinson, Aaron Robinson, and Abdulai Bundu have signed National Letters of Intent with us here at Quinnipiac University," said Moore. "All three young men are exactly the type of players, students, and people that we value in our basketball program."
Andrew Robinson
Hometown: Silver Spring, MD
High School/Previous School: Springbrook High School/Putnam Science Academy
Height: 6-5 | Weight: 200
Position: Guard
One of three recruits hailing from Maryland, Andrew Robinson averaged 17.5 points and 6.4 rebounds at Springbrook High School. He fielded double-digit offers from programs in the MAAC, BIG EAST and ACC before selecting Quinnipiac as his school of choice. As a senior, he helped lead the Blue Devils to a 24-3 record and the brink of a Maryland 4A Championship.
At 6-foot-5, Andrew combines deep shooting range with good athleticism around the rim. Andrew made a name for himself at this summer's Reebok Breakout Classic and played in the 41st annual Capital Classic High School All-Star Game in April, finishing with 17 points in a 139-134 loss to the U.S. All-Stars.
Aaron Robinson
Hometown: Silver Spring, MD
High School/Previous School: Springbrook High School/Putnam Science Academy
Height: 6-4 | Weight: 185
Position: Guard
Aaron Robinson, like his brother, earned All-Sentinel honors last season with Springbrook. Aaron averaged 10.8 points and 3.8 rebounds while connecting on 48 three-pointers for the season. Aaron had interest from several schools, but chose to play at Putnam Science Academy to develop his skills alongside his brother. The twins are the first basketball commits in the class of 2015 for the Bobcats.
Tom Moore has had recent success recruiting the New England prep schools. Including Aaron and Andrew, five members of his last two recruiting classes came from the prep school ranks, including freshman Chaise Daniels, the in-state power forward who also attended Putnam Science Academy. Aaron Robinson presents a solid all-around player with the ability to knock down long range shots – evidenced by a recent performance that featured 32 points on eight threes.
What Coach Moore Says About Andrew and Aaron Robinson…
Andrew and Aaron are big wings that can really shoot the ball from deep. They are tough, athletic, and will stretch defenses while also bringing size to our perimeter. As twins, they have a special bond and are such high-character kids.
Abdulai Bundu
Hometown: Upper Marlboro, MD
High School/Previous School: Largo High School
Height: 6-8 | Weight: 210
Position: Forward
The 6-foot-8 forward joins the Bobcats from Largo High School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Now a senior, Bundu hopes to lead Largo to Prince George 2A championship. Last season, Bundu averaged 25 points and 12 rebounds for Largo, a large noticeable increase over his 18 points and nine rebounds during his sophomore season. After his sophomore season—just his third competitive season of basketball—he earned a spot on Team Takeover's 16U team. He also fielded offers from MAAC, Conference USA and Atlantic-10 schools.
Bundu's height makes for an intimidating presence in the paint on both ends of the floor. He excels at post play and is working on improving his jumper and ball-handling.
What Coach Moore Says About Abdulai Bundu…
Abdulai is an extremely athletic combo forward with a great motor. He will impact our program as an undersized power forward right away and he has a chance to move his game out to the perimeter as his skills continue to evolve. His toughness and intensity will fit in well here at Quinnipiac.
What Coach Lewis Howard Says About Abdulai Bundu…
Abdulai is a hardnosed, hardworking player who is extremely athletic. He's a tremendous all-around individual and one of the easiest players I've ever coached. I commend the efforts of Quinnipiac's coaching staff, Coach Moore, Coach Doherty, Coach Eaton and Coach Burrell, who were great to work with. Abdulai, his family and all of us from Largo High School are very happy for Abdulai and his next chapter. We feel that Quinnipiac is a perfect place for him to matriculate and develop as a student-athlete.
