Ousmane Drame Tabbed MAAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

HAMDEN, Conn. – Senior forward Ousmane Drame (Boston, Mass.) was named MAAC Player of the Week, announced by the league's office on Monday, Dec. 1, 2014. Of the three weekly awards handed out this year, two of them have been claimed by Quinnipiac players.
After Zaid Hearst (Bethesda, Md.) earned the league's first weekly award on Nov. 17, Drame became the second Bobcat in 14 days to earn recognition. Drame averaged 22.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 4.0 blocks in two games for the Bobcats last week, while scoring his 1,000 career point on Sunday against Vermont (11/30).
Drame really shined against the Catamounts, posting a career-high 33 points, grabbing 13 rebounds and blocking three shots in the 13-point win. He went 10-for-14 from the field and 13-for-16 from the free-throw line to become the 38th Quinnipiac player to reach the milestone. Drame (149) also became Quinnipiac's all-time leader in blocked shots, surpassing Glenn Phillip's 22-year record of 146.
For Drame, the numbers continue to mount for the 6-foot-9 forward. He became the 11th Division I player to reach 1,000 points, and needs 172 rebounds to become Quinnipiac's third player in the last five years to hit 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.
Earlier in the week, Drame secured a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds against Hartford (11/25). For the week, Drame shot 55.6 percent (15-27) from the floor and 73.7 percent (14-19) from the free-throw line.
Up next, Quinnipiac opens MAAC competition Friday, Dec. 5 at Siena College. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at The Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y.
