Hamden, Conn. – Quinnipiac University baseball coach John Delaney has announced the schedule for the 2015 season. The Bobcats schedule features 54 games, including 21 home games, before the MAAC Championships are held from May 21-23 at a site to be determined.
The Bobcats open up the season on Friday, Feb. 20 with a three-game series at George Washington University whom they haven't faced in two years. The Colonials finished the 2014 season with a 20-30 overall record.
The following weekend Quinnipiac travels to James Madison University to take on the Dukes for a four-game series. The Dukes finished last season 17-36, and were swept out of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament with losses to UNC Wilmington and Northeastern.
After facing the Dukes, the Bobcats will get set for an 11 day trip to Nashville, Tenn. where they will start off with a tournament between the Belmont Bruins and the Bradley Braves from March 6-8. Quinnipiac gets a day off on Monday before beginning a two-game series with the defending national champion Vanderbilt Commodores at Hawkins Field. With a day off on Thursday, they begin a three-game series to end the trip with Lipscomb University who lost to Kennesaw State in the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament Championship after a 33-28 record.
Quinnipiac returns back to the Northeast and will travel to Kingston, R.I. to face the Rhode Island Rams on March 18 before starting off the MAAC schedule against Saint Peter's in Jersey City, New Jersey on Saturday, Mar. 21 and 22. The Peacocks finished last in the MAAC with an 11-41 record, including 6-17 in MAAC play.
On Tuesday, March 24 the Bobcats host Central Connecticut State University for its first home game of the 2015 season. The Blue Devils finished 2014 with a 27-22 record and lost in the semifinals of the Northeast Conference tournament to Sacred Heart. The Bobcats then travel to Yale to face the Bulldogs the following day at Yale Field where the Bulldogs beat the Bobcats for the City Series Title in October.
Quinnipiac closes out the month of March when it hosts the Siena Saints for a MAAC matchup with the defending MAAC Champions on March 28 and 29. To open up April, Quinnipiac hosts the Dartmouth Big Green on April 1 in a non-conference matchup before traveling to Monmouth on Apr. 4 and 5 to face the Monmouth Hawks in a three-game series. Monmouth finished in fourth to end the MAAC last season, tied with Quinnipiac with a 12-10 conference record but a 24-25 overall record.
Rhode Island then comes to Quinnipiac on Apr. 7 for a midweek contest in Hamden with Quinnipiac before Quinnipiac goes back on the road for a three game MAAC series with the Manhattan Jaspers on Apr. 11 and 12. Manhattan took the final playoff spot for the MAAC in 2014 with a 17-33 record, including 11-13 in the conference.
Two more midweek games come up after the Manhattan series, when Quinnipiac travels to intrastate rival Hartford on Apr. 14 before coming back home on Apr. 15 and a non-conference matchup with the Northeastern Huskies. That weekend, Quinnipiac hosts the Fairfield Stags who finished third in the conference last season.
The Bobcats travel to CCSU on Apr. 21 to face the Blue Devils for the second time in 2015 before returning home for another MAAC weekend showdown on Apr. 25 and 26, this time with the Marist Red Foxes who narrowly missed the MAAC playoffs in 2014.
The Hartford Hawks make the return trip to Hamden on Apr. 28 for the first midweek game of the week for Quinnipiac before it travels to Amherst, Mass. To take on UMass on Apr. 29. May 2 and 3 brings Quinnipiac its third consecutive home weekend of the season when it hosts the Niagara Purple Eagles who finished ninth in the conference last season.
Quinnipiac travels to Rider on May 9 and 10 for the final conference weekend of the season to face the Broncs who finished 10th in the MAAC.
The final weekend of the season brings Quinnipiac its bye-weekend where they will host NJIT on May 15 and 16 for a four-game series before the Bobcats get ready for the MAAC Tournament the following weekend.
