Benzing had
a spectacular week between the pipes for the Bobcats, posting a
.721 save percentage and a 6.00 goals against average as the
Bobcats split a pair of games, falling at Fairfield, 7-5, before
defeating Holy Cross, 10-5, in their home opener. The senior
started the week by making 12 saves while allowing seven goals at
Fairfield on Tuesday. The netminder also amassed three ground
balls and one caused turnover in the process. Benzing returned to
his post with greater vigilance against Holy Cross, snagging 19
saves and limiting the Crusaders to just five goals in the Bobcats'
win. The senior made several of his saves on one-on-one
opportunities, while adding four ground balls and one caused
turnover to his column.
After remaining scoreless through his first two games as a rookie,
Webster came charging onto the scene with a vengeance in
Quinnipiac's bout with Holy Cross on Saturday. The midfielder
scored three goals and added an assist in the Bobcats' victory. He
put forth a versatile effort, scooping three ground balls, causing
one turnover and winning two-of-five face-off opportunities. In an
earlier game against Fairfield, the Ontario native showed similar
defensive prowess, tallying a trio of ground balls, causing one
turnover and triumphing in four-of-five face-off scenarios. He
finished the two-game stint with six ground balls, two caused
turnovers and six-of-10 face-off victories.
The Bobcats return to action Saturday, March 12, when they travel
to Providence. Opening face-off from the Friar Field Hockey &
Lacrosse Complex is scheduled for 2 p.m.
