Amy Klopfenstein joined Quinnipiac in 2017-18 as the assistant athletic director for academic support. In her role with the Bobcats, Klopfenstein will provide academic counseling and support to student-athletes for assigned sports to ensure appropriate progress towards their degree is made as well as providing guidance in academic matters related to meeting University, conference and NCAA eligibility requirements.
In addition, she will work with student-athletes in preparing academic plans and course schedules each semester and will also serve as advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (S.A.A.C.).
Klopfenstein comes to Quinnipiac from Post University where she held the position of academic success counselor. In her role, she worked as an advisor for over 250 students to assist in registration, course selection and choosing degrees. She previously held positions in the athletic departments at the University of Rhode Island and Pennsylvania State University. At URI, she worked in several capacities including compliance and student advisement in academics and counseling. Additionally, she coordinated the RAM Choices program which focused on alcohol and substance abuse issues.
At Penn State, Klopfenstein was an assistant program administrator in the Morgan Academic Support Center for Student-Athletes where she advised, monitored and certified eligibility to Penn State, Big 10 and NCAA progress and degree completion rules for several programs. In addition, she coordinated CHAMPS/Life Skills programming.
Klopfenstein graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communicative disorders, speech and hearing science with a minor in psychology from Rhode Island College and a master’s degree in human development and family studies from URI.
