Baltimore, M.D. – The Quinnipiac women's volleyball program opened the Towson-Morgan State Invitational with losses to Morgan State (3-1) and Towson (3-1) on Friday, September 5^th in Maryland.

Quinnipiac won the opening set against Morgan State before dropping the next three sets to lose their opening match of the Invitational.

In the nightcap against Towson, the Bobcats dropped the first two sets before securing a 25-14 win in the third set to keep the match going. However, the Tigers closed out the match in the fourth set with a 25-15 win.

Elena Giacomini led the Bobcats with 15 kills in the effort. Giacomini recorded ten digs to give her another double-double on the season. Yagmur Gunes and Vittoria Tonelli each recorded double-digit kills in the loss to the Tigers.

Game 1: Morgan State 3, Quinnipiac 1

The Bobcats took the first set from the Bears but dropped the next three to lose in the Towson-Morgan State Invitational opener.

Game 2: Towson 3, Quinnipiac 1

The Tigers took the opening set against the Bobcats with a 25-18 win. The Bobcats got within three towards the end of the first set, but Towson didn't allow them to get any closer as they won the opening frame.
Towson then took the back-and-forth second set, 25-21. After a Quinnipiac timeout with the Tigers leading 19-15, Towson closed out the set with a 6-5 run to clinch the second set.
The Bobcats fought back in the third set, defeating Towson 25-14. Quinnipiac bounced out to an 18-13 lead, forcing Towson to call a timeout. Out of the break, QU outscored the Tigers 7-1 to win the third set.
Towson jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the fourth set and didn't look back as they held the lead for the entirety of the final set.
Elena Giacomini paced Quinnipiac with 15 kills, and Yagmur Gunes and Vittoria Tonelli each added ten kills.
Klara Olszewska led the Bobcats with 33 assists, recording 80% of the team's assists in the nightcap.
Asia Belli added six kills and Milena Silva pitched in with three.
Yagmur Gunes (13 digs) and Elena Giacomini (10 digs) were the only Bobcats to record double-digit digs.
