HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac women's volleyball is back on the road as they head to Maryland to compete in the Towson-Morgan State Invitational. The Bobcats will begin play on Friday, September 5th, against Morgan State with the start time slated for noon. Later the same day, the Bobcats will head to Towson to take on the Tigers at 7 PM. QU will round out play at the Invitational on Saturday, September 6th, at 10 AM against Stonehill.

The Bobcats will begin play on Friday, September 5th, against Morgan State with the start time slated for noon. Later the same day, the Bobcats will head to Towson to take on the Tigers at 7 PM. QU will round out play at the Invitational on Saturday, September 6th, at 10 AM against Stonehill.
LOOKING BACK
- Last week, the Bobcats went 1-2 as they opened the 2025 campaign at the Bradley Invitational in Peoria, Illinois.
- The Bobcats dropped their first match of the new season to UT Arlington, 3-1. Vittoria Tonelli and Elena Giacomini tied for the team lead with 12 kills each.
- Quinnipiac bounced back in the nightcap, defeating Western Illinois in straight sets. Elena Giacomini (15 kills), Yagmur Gunes (14 kills), and Vittoria Tonelli (13 kills) all recorded double-doubles in the win.
- QU wrapped up play in Peoria, Illinois, against the hosts, Bradley University. Despite falling to the Braves in four sets, Yagmur Gunes and Elena Giacomini combined for 38 kills and each recorded a double-double.
2024 SEASON REWIND
- The Bobcats finished the season with 19 wins, including a five-game winning streak to close out the regular season.
- The Bobcats finished 15-3 in MAAC play, which locked them into the No. 2 seed for the 2024 MAAC Championships.
- QU defeated No. 3 Rider, 3-1, in the MAAC Semifinals to punch their ticket to the title game.
- Quinnipiac ultimately fell in four sets to in-state rival Fairfield as their season came to an end.
PRESEASON ACCOLADES
- Quinnipiac women's volleyball was selected to finish second in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the league office on August 20th.
- Elena Giacomini was named the MAAC Preseason Player of the Year after winning the MAAC Player of the Year award last season.
- Along with Giacomini being named to the All-MAAC Preseason team, Ginevra Giovagnoni and Damla Gunes also earned those honors.
HEAD COACH KYLE ROBINSON
- Head Coach Kyle Robinson enters his seventh season with the Bobcats in 2025. Robinson has an 80-77 (.510) record in his tenure in Hamden.
- Robinson is 224-160 over his career as a collegiate head coach (7 seasons at LIU before QU).
- Robinson has firmly cemented himself as one of the premier college coaches in the NCAA's highest division. He effectively etched his signature on Quinnipiac volleyball by becoming the first head coach in program history to lead the program to an NCAA Tournament berth in 2022.
STRONG RETURNING GROUP
- The Bobcats return 10 members who were on the squad last season.
- Among those returners are Elena Giacomini, last season's MAAC Player of the Year and this season's Preseason Player of the Year, Damla Gunes, the two-time MAAC Setter of the Year, Ginevra Giovagnoni, last season's Preseason Player of the Year, and Yagmur Gunes, who was named to the 2024 MAAC All-Tournament team.
THE '25 MAAC SCHEDULE
- After competing in four non-conference tournaments, the Bobcats open MAAC Play on September 26th in Fairfield, Connecticut, against the Sacred Heart Pioneers.
- The Bobcats face the reigning MAAC Champions, Fairfield, on September 27th on the road for a rematch of last year's title game.
- Quinnipiac's first home weekend is October 3-4 as they welcome Canisius and Niagara to Burt Kahn Court.
- After a four-game road trip, the Bobcats return to Quinnipiac for a seven-game homestand, which kicks off on October 24th against Fairfield.
- The Bobcats' final regular season weekend will be spent in Western New York against Niagara and Canisius (Nov. 14-15).
- The 2025 MAAC Women's Volleyball Championship will begin on Tuesday, November 18th with the first round contests.
