Now entering his seventh season with Quinnipiac in 2018, Kristopher Czaplinski has built the Bobcats into a MAAC contender in the first head coaching job in his career.
In 2016, Czaplinski led the Bobcats to the top single-season turnaround in the nation, finishing with a 21-12 record. That represented an improvement of 18 wins over the 2015 campaign, two more than Notre Dame, which went from seven wins to 23. Quinnipiac finished third in the MAAC in the regular season with 11 conference wins, and advanced to the championship match of the postseason tournament with wins over Niagara and second-seeded Marist.
During the 2016 season, he coached two first-team All-MAAC selections in Allison Leigh and Jen Coffey, while coaching three players (Maria Pansari, Natalie Alechko and Alejandra Rodriguez) on to the All-Rookie team, the most all-rookie selections in program history. Pansari broke the school's single season record for assists (all divisions) as the team's primary setter.
In his fourth season in 2015, Czaplinski fielded a young team with only one senior and placed freshman Jen Coffey on the MAAC All-Rookie team. In his third season in 2014, Quinnipiac had seven players named to the MAAC All-Academic Team, tied for second most players in the conference. Quinnipiac continued its strong outreach into the local community with countless hours dedicated to the Positive Play program as the volleyball program was once again one of the top teams in the athletic department to give back to the community.
Czaplinski came to Quinnipiac from Post University in Waterbury, Connecticut, where he served as the assist coach for the two years. While with the volleyball program, he helped guide the Eagles to a fourth-place finish in his last season in the North Division of the league. Czaplinski spearheaded recruiting operations, scheduling and prepared game tactics and strategies during his stint with the team.
In addition to Post, Czaplinski allocated much of his time to the Connecticut Sports Center in Woodbridge, Conn. Since 2003, he has served as the varsity coach of the Junior Olympic Girls’ Volleyball program, a club consisting of student-athletes ranging from 16-18 years old. Czaplinski also organizes elite summer programs for athletes aspiring to play at the collegiate level.
A 2006 graduate of the University of New Haven with a degree in Business Administration, Czaplinski was a member of the men's volleyball program with the Chargers.
While at Post, Czaplinski earned a Master’s of Education in 2010. He resides in Shelton, Conn.
