Clausen Earns First Collegiate Win as Bobcats Top Maine

ORONO, Maine – The No. 6 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team opened the season with a 2-1 victory over Maine on Friday night at Alfond Arena.
Maine struck first late in the opening period, taking a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
The Bobcats answered in the second, capitalizing on their first power play of the night. After a four-on-four sequence, Ella Sennick fired a shot from the blue line that was deflected by Ella Johnson to tie the game at 1-1 with 5:30 remaining in the period.
Quinnipiac took its first lead of the night in the third period when Alex Law skated past two Maine defenders and scored to put the Bobcats ahead 2-1.
The Bobcats' defense held strong in the final minutes, with huge saves from sophomore goaltender Casey Clausen. Clausen turned aside 35 of Maine's 36 shots to secure her first collegiate victory in her first official start.
