Home Opener Set for Monday Against Providence

HAMDEN, Conn. — The home opener for the 2026 Quinnipiac men's soccer team is slated for Monday, when the Bobcats welcome regional rival Providence for a 4 p.m., showdown.
The Bobcats are coming off a 3-1 loss at the hands of Missouri State on Thursday to open its campaign, while Providence took care of another Metro foe in Sacred Heart with a 4-1 win at home the same night.

LAST TIME OUT
- Joey Saputo Jr. scored Quinnipiac's first goal of the campaign but the Bobcats ultimately fell 3-1 to Missouri State.
- The grad student's tally cut the deficit in half at 2-1 early in the second and the Bobcats would control 53 percent of the ball in that period but could not find the equalizer.
- The Friars make their first trip to Hamden since 2014, site of Quinnipiac's lone win in the series that dates back to 2014. The Bobcats scored twice in the first half and added an insurance tally in the second, as James Greco assisted on two of the three tallies.

- They return 13 players from last year's roster, including grad student Sam Montalto, who was an All-BIG EAST Third Team selection in 2025 and Preseason All-BIG EAST selection this August.
- Head Coach Eric Da Costa enters year 22 with the Bobcat program, currently sitting with 165 career victories and a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances.
- He has made the postseason tournament 12 of the last 14 seasons, including 11 of the last 13 METRO postseasons.
- He has an overall record of 165-169-62.
- William Holum leads the returning scorers for the Bobcats, potting four goals and adding an assist during the 2025 campaign. He made 18 appearances, starting 17 of them.
- Other multi-goal scorers returning include Andrew Monteserin (two goals) and Benjamin Telle (two goals).
- Fynn Ost returns to lead the Quinnipiac backline where he logged 1165 minutes a season ago, making 14 starts and three more appearances off the bench.
- The 2026 Metro Conference preseason poll placed Quinnipiac fifth in the league rankings ahead of this year's campaign, tied with Marist.
- The Bobcats earned 109 points in the poll and will face each of the teams ahead of them in the league season.
